Pride 2022: One year on since the launch of our LGBTQ+ Ally programme

Back in June 2021, St. Modwen’s LGBTQ+ Ally Programme was created. Driven forward by colleagues within the D&I working group, the scheme’s aim was to make everyone that interacts with St. Modwen feel that they can be their full selves, celebrate our differences and champion diversity.

Colleagues from across St. Modwen were invited to sign up to become an ally, with those opting to join being given an information pack on how to actively support and champion the LGBTQ+ community, along with a sticker to wear to proudly display their allyship. Just a few days in to the schemes launch, over 20 colleagues had already become allies, with many more to follow. Over the past year, we’ve heard some incredibly positive and inspiring stories from our allies and the LGBTQ+ community that they’ve positively impacted.

In celebration of Pride Month, we’ve been finding out more about the impact the ally programme has had over the past twelve months on our colleagues and communities.

The LGBTQ+ Ally Programme has even influenced the communities we deliver, including the creation of a new rainbow crossing at our New Covent Garden Market development in Nine Elms, London.

The programme forms part of our overarching Diversity and Inclusion ambition to achieve the National Equality Standard by 2025. We look forward to welcoming more colleagues to the ally scheme, and to continue to positively impact our customers, colleagues and partners.
