WONDERFUL WOMEN OF LONGBRIDGE SET TO TAKE TO THE STAGE THIS SUMMER

A new musical theatre production Women of Longbridge will be celebrating local stories of past, present and future on Saturday 23rd June 2018.

Developed from research and performed by a community cast, Women of Longbridge will share stories from the area through drama, movement and song as part of an interactive production produced by Women & Theatre.

The performance will move through the town centre during the day and will feature an original song written by community participants. This theatrical extravaganza is a must see for local people and audiences travelling in from further afield. There will be three performances during the day at 11am, 3pm and 6pm and is free to attend.

Andrea Clarke, Property Manager for St. Modwen, said: “Women of Longbridge is an inspirational project that will celebrate the stories of local women. We’re committed to creating a strong community, and projects like this gives locals the chance to get involved and enjoy everything that Longbridge has to offer. We look forward to seeing what local stories can be brought to life through this unique project.”

Jo Gleave, Lead Artist Practitioner for Women & Theatre said: “It’s important to be able to tell the story of Longbridge from the women’s perspectives. The performance acknowledges the significant changes that have happened here and the impact that this has had on women’s lives and the area. It celebrates the strong sense of community in the face of adversity and political change and champions hope for the future women of Longbridge.”

The project has been developed in partnership with FLOS (Friends of Longbridge Open Spaces) and is funded by Birmingham City Council, Arts Council England, The Cole Charitable Trust, The John Freeney Charitable Trust, The Grimmitt Trust and The Harry Payne Fund.
