The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust has selected St. Modwen’s Queensway Business Park in Telford as the location for a major new sterilisation facility.

A 20-year lease has been agreed on 21,753 sq ft of high quality commercial space across four units at the Business Park. The deal was secured after the Trust identified a requirement for supplementary space in Shropshire to service the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and Princess Royal Hospital in Telford.

Located adjacent to the A442 Queensway, four miles north of Telford town centre, the 20-acre self-contained site has proven popular with businesses looking for secure, well-managed space in the Telford area with good links to the motorway network.

Chris Needham, head of estates at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, said: “A first class sterilisation facility is vital to the efficient running of the Trust, and we selected Queensway Business Park as St. Modwen was able to provide the space we required within our timescales. The ability to establish a base in a secure and strategic location was incredibly important to the Trust, and as St. Modwen was willing to negotiate terms to suit our specific needs and the very special nature of our business, we have made a long term commitment to Queensway Business Park. This space will enable us to service hospitals across the region for the benefit of the wider community.”

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust will be located in Phase Two of Queensway Business Park, where only one unit of 7,000 sq ft remains, available to let or purchase. A wide range of tenants include Chips Away, Lisec UK, Armo, C S Mirrors and E- Throughout the remainder of the scheme, there are only two 10,000 sq ft units available and a development plot of seven acres.

Jonathan Green, surveyor for St Modwen said: “This recent letting of four units to The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust has been secured on a long term basis; and is testament to the quality of the space available at Queensway Business Park together with the secure managed environment which benefits from 24 hour security.

“The Trust approached us with its extremely specialised requirements and we worked closely with its representatives to find the right accommodation to meet its needs. The strength of Queensway Business Park lies in this versatility and the ability to accommodate tenants from a wide range of sectors from engineering to IT provision.”
