St Modwen Properties PLC, together with Bellway Homes, have been granted outline planning consent by Leeds City Council for the mixed use development of the former Brook Crompton factory site in Guiseley, West Yorkshire.

It is planned to build 200 dwellings including 50 affordable homes and 25,000 sq ft of new employment facilities which will create around 100 jobs on the 15-acre site in Netherfield Road. Public open space and playing areas are also included in the scheme.

St Modwen acquired the site in 2002 as part of a portfolio of properties acquired from Invensys and has operated it as an employment site whilst establishing its on-going future use.

Steve Prosser, Regional Manager of St Modwen, said: “Demolition of the old factory and the remediation of the site will start shortly and we hope to be able to carry out the first phase of development later this year.”
