REGARDING THE GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCEMENT ON THE FIRST TRANCHE OF ECO TOWNS

The Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG) has already confirmed that no final decision will be taken on Middle Quinton until after the West Midlands RSS Panel reports, which is expected to be by the end of September 2009.

On that basis, there will be no announcement concerning Middle Quinton in the first tranche of Government selections, which are expected in the near future.

John Dodds, regional director for St.Modwen commented:

“We are very clear about the process and timetable the Government is working to in regard to a decision on Middle Quinton. We do not expect to be part of any Government announcement in the very near future, but that in no way diminishes our confidence in being included at a later date, once the RSS Panel has reported.

Tony Bird, chairman of the Bird Group of Companies said:

“The fact that Middle Quinton has already been included in the RSS review for the West Midlands means that it would be further advanced than other locations, which will have to undergo the same scrutiny if they are selected for development. We are comfortable with the current situation and look forward to the publication of the RSS Panel report and a final Government decision after that
