JD Sports is the latest multiple retailer to unveil plans for a new store at St. Modwen’s Edmonton Green Shopping Centre in North London. The country’s leading sports and fashion specialist has signed a 10-year lease at £45,000 Per annum on a 1,500 sq ft unit in the centre’s North Mall.

Gary Morris, Senior Development Manager at St. Modwen said: “The arrival of JD Sports will have a hugely positive effect on Edmonton Green, making a significant addition to the existing retail offer. The letting demonstrates the positive direction the centre is moving towards as we continue to attract multiple brands, keep voids low and maintain an average footfall of over 200,000 a week.”

The signing marks a milestone in the centre’s ongoing regeneration, coinciding with the £1.5million refurbishment of the North Square completing in early November. This includes the reconfiguration and extension of units to accommodate a new 22,000 sq ft Wilkinson store, as well as significant improvements to elevations, landscaping, street furniture and lighting. The JD Sports store will join a host of established brands at the centre including Sports Direct, Asda, Argos, Home Bargains, Blue Inc, Costa Coffee, Lidl, Poundland and Specsavers, providing a strong indicator of the success of St. Modwen’s regeneration.
