ST. MODWEN AGREES LAND SALE TO FAST FOOD RESTAURANT CHAIN AT EGSTOW PARK

Expert developer and regeneration specialist St. Modwen has agreed a land sale to McDonalds Restaurants Ltd at its 200 acre Egstow Park development near Clay Cross.

The fast food restaurant chain will be developing a single storey drive-thru restaurant with external parking on Derby Road and is expected to create up to 60 full and part-time jobs.

The restaurant will be part of a larger development that will have 825 new homes as well as a neighbourhood centre, retail units, green open space and woodland for the community to enjoy, once complete.  It also comprises up to 20 acres of commercial development and the entire scheme is expected to create up to 650 new jobs in the area.

Gregg Titley, Development Director at St. Modwen, said: “The recent deal with McDonalds expands the offering at Egstow Park, bringing more choice to nearby residents. The addition of the fast food restaurant also creates jobs for local people and will further the sense of community we’ve helped to generate.

“The restaurant complements the existing Marston’s pub we’ve developed and will be a welcome addition to those who will reside on the development once the first phase is complete.”

John Robson, Senior Acquisitions Surveyor at McDonalds Restaurants Ltd, added: We’re very pleased to have concluded the purchase of our site in Egstow Park. Work has now started on site and we are looking forward to launching our new drive thru restaurant, with is due to open to the public this September.”
