St Modwen Appoint Non-executive Director

St Modwen Properties PLC, the regeneration based property company, today announces the appointment of Iain Napier (52) as a non-executive director, with effect from 24th July 2001.

Mr Napier was an executive vice president on the executive management committee of Interbrew S.A. following that company’s acquisition of Bass Brewers in September 2000. Immediately prior to this he was a main board director of Bass plc where he spent a career spanning some 11-years. He joined Bass in 1989 as marketing director of their pubs and restaurant division before going on to be group HR director, chief executive of Bass Leisure and then chief executive of Bass Brewers and Bass International Brewers.

He is also a non-executive director of Imperial Tobacco Group plc and Perry Group plc.

Prior to joining Bass he spent 12 years with Ford Motor Company mainly in sales and marketing roles. Before leaving Ford he was assistant managing director of Ford France based in Paris. In his early career he spent five years with Whitbread plc primarily in finance and retail development. Mr Napier is a qualified accountant.
