St Modwen builds warehouse for Walsall leather firm
St Modwen Developments Ltd has started construction on a 45,000 sq ft warehouse at Walsall Enterprise Park for G H Stafford, a leather goods supplier, which is to relocate to the 16-acre park in the autumn.
At the same time St Modwen is building an additional 10,000 sq ft of speculative employment space which is under offer.
The completion of the current 55,000 sq ft phase will bring the total development on the estate to more than 200,000 sq ft.
G H Stafford, which is moving from Town Wharf Business Park, has acquired the freehold of its new premises for around £2.5 million.
Ian Romano of St Modwen said: “On the back of the continued success at Walsall Enterprise Park we have put in a planning application for a final speculative phase of 36,000 sq ft which will provide a range of units from 2,200 sq ft to 6,760 sq ft with options to combine.
“Demand for units of this size is good as is demonstrated by the success of the last speculative phase where all seven units are now sold or under offer within only three months from completion of them.
“We have planning consent for a further 15,500 sq ft warehouse unit which is under offer and this will be the last purpose built development on the site.”
