St Modwen clears the way for further homes development at Hilton
St Modwen Properties PLC, which recently acquired the remaining 150-acres of the former Ministry of Defence Central Vehicle Storage Depot at Hilton, Derbyshire, is demolishing a 9,290 sq m (100,000 sq ft) warehouse and reclaiming 17.5 acres of land to prepare for the next phase of residential development.
This large regeneration project, scheduled for completion in October involves 20,000 tonnes of materials being recycled for re-use on the site.
Peter Robbins of St Modwen, said: “As part of the preparations to release the land in the Autumn, we are removing a major building and a large area of hard standing, crushing the materials and recycling it to produce hard core to create vehicle storage areas on another part of the site.”
This phase is part of the ongoing development of the 270-acre depot which by its completion will have seen well over 1,100 homes, one million sq ft of employment space and a new district centre created, along with a village by-pass, sports, sports facilities and major contribution to schools and other community projects.
