Solihull Ice Rink is now restored to one of the leading ice centres in the country following the completion by St Modwen Developments Ltd of a fast-track £1.6 mil. refurbishment programme.
The refurbishment included the installation of new stadium-style tiered seating around the ice pad, the extension of the complex to incorporate new community facilities formerly housed in separate assembly rooms, a new shop, restaurant space, improved and enlarged bar and public facilities and a revamped entrance.
The rink was only out of use for 16 weeks whilst the phased refurbishment was carried out by Weaver Construction PLC in a carefully organised fast-track programme.
David Cockroft of St Modwen, said: “We have created a modern, brighter and attractive ice rink complex whilst retaining the integrity of the ice pad which has always been of an international standard. We are currently in negotiations to let the restaurant units at the front of the complex and have applied for planning permission for a health and fitness facility on the site of the old assembly rooms”.
The ice rink is the home of the reformed Solihull Barons ice hockey team which has an enthusiastic following in the area.
Ramsdens is representing St Modwen in the letting of the restaurant and health and fitness facilities.
