ST. MODWEN COMPLETES DEALS AT EDMONTON GREEN
PEP & CO, DEICHMANN AND SELECT SIGN
St. Modwen has completed 13,500 sq ft of lettings at Edmonton Green Shopping Centre, building on the Centre’s national retailer line-up ahead of the Christmas shopping season.
Deichmann Shoes opened its 4,600 sq ft store at 12-13 Market Square last week (17 October), having taken an assignment of Poundland’s lease. The new letting forms part of the German footwear company’s worldwide expansion drive. Poundland remains in the Centre and has consolidated into a larger unit as part of the chain’s merger with 99p Stores.
St. Modwen – the UK’s leading regeneration specialist – has also secured a 10-year lease at £95,000 per annum to Select Fashion, which has taken a 4,900 sq ft unit at 14-15 Market Square. The women’s retailer – aimed at fashion-conscious shoppers with modest budgets – has invested in Edmonton Green as part of its plans to open 200 new stores in the capital and south east by 2018.
Pep & Co completes the line-up, having agreed a 5-year lease at an average rent of £75,000 per annum on a 4,000 sq ft unit in Market Square. Pep & Co, which is backed by South African retail giant, Pepkor, has over 3,800 stores across Europe, Africa and Australasia. Its UK growth is focussed on bringing stores to local town centres, with low prices across its range of clothing for the whole family.
The new occupiers will complement the Centre’s existing fashion offer which includes Matalan, Peacocks, JD and Sports Direct. Other occupiers include a range of leisure and restaurant operators, a thriving market of independent traders and local amenities such as banks, a library, healthcare, education and a Post Office.
St. Modwen has invested over £100m in the shopping centre since 1999, creating new stores, transforming the shopper environment and attracting a host of new brands to the centre.
Gary Morris, Senior Development Manager for St. Modwen’s Northern Home Counties regional office said that the lettings demonstrated the shopping centre’s ongoing transformation: “These new lettings have been secured at an optimal time to benefit from Christmas trading and will boost our already impressive line up of fashion, home and lifestyle retailers.
“The new stores demonstrate Edmonton Green’s continuing appeal to major brands looking to increase their presence in locations which deliver a range of community amenities alongside a variety of independent traders and national retailers.”
St. Modwen is represented by Green & Partners and GCW.
