ST. MODWEN COMPLETES PURCHASE OF PRIME WORCESTER SITE AND SUBMITS PLANNING APPLICATION
St. Modwen, the UK’s leading regeneration specialist, has completed its purchase of a prominent 19 acre site in Worcester from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
Located in a popular residential area, two miles south east of Worcester city centre, the site is situated on the Whittington Road (A44) – the main arterial route leading south east onto junction 7 of the M5.
The site is also within easy reach of the city’s shops and restaurants, and Worcester Foregate Street railway station, which provides regular train services to Birmingham, Bristol and London.
Jonathan Green, senior development surveyor at St. Modwen, said: “In addition to purchasing the site, we have recently submitted a planning application for 120 new houses, 36 of which will be affordable, plus 150,000 sq ft of offices, which are in line with the South Worcestershire Development Plan.
“Our housebuilding business, St. Modwen Homes, has successfully developed 168 new homes at the nearby Gregorys Bank development over the last three years. Should we achieve additional consent at Whittington Road, work will continue to deliver more high quality family homes within Worcester.”
Also in Worcester, St. Modwen recently completed the construction of 25,000 sq ft of new employment space on a speculative basis at Great Western Business Park, and has secured planning consent for a further 65,000 sq ft, along with a bespoke unit for Travis Perkins.
