St. Modwen donates £15,000 to Realise charity

St. Modwen Industrial & Logistics, the dedicated industrial and logistics division of property developer St. Modwen, has donated £15,000 to Realise charity to support its community services through the COVID-19 pandemic.

As part of we are aspire, which also comprises Staffordshire-based Aspire Housing and PM Training, Realise charity supports people of all ages and background from across its region through a range of services including employment, skills, health and wellbeing, and befriending.

When COVID-19 struck and lockdown took effect, the charity acted quickly to divert its funds, resources, and volunteer network to support those most in need.

In April, the charity developed the Newcastle-under-Lyme COVID-19 Support Network, which has provided essential support through food deliveries, prescription collections, and by tackling social isolation and loneliness. Its team also coordinates the support of its network partners, Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council, Staffordshire County Council, Support Staffordshire, and a raft of local community groups.

The £15,000 grant from St. Modwen will enable Realise charity to continue supporting those in need during COVID-19, and to help anybody who may struggle with new challenges of financial hardship and mental health issues as a result of the pandemic. The grant is part of St. Modwen’s £150,000 Community Impact Fund, created to support grassroots charities and community groups that make a significant impact in their communities.

At we are aspire we’re committed to investing in our communities and putting people first in everything we do. The coronavirus pandemic introduced some very challenging times for everyone, but this was particularly apparent for the most vulnerable members of our communities. “In our role as a social housing landlord and apprenticeship provider, we saw the ways in which people were struggling, and the potential for challenges that vulnerable people may face, so we quickly adapted to support our communities in any way we could. We’ve done everything from delivering food, prescriptions and essential supplies, to walking pets and providing a friendly voice at the end of the phone. It’s with generous donations like this that we can continue providing and expanding this support as we look to the future.”

Elaine Needham, Director of Realise charity

Realise Foundation is a charity that shares many of our values. It believes wholeheartedly in investing in its communities and bringing about positive change. The COVID-19 pandemic, and real threat of a second wave, goes to demonstrate how important organisations like this are in times of need. It fills us with immense pride to be able to provide this grant and to see it continue with its work moving forward.”
