ST. MODWEN DONATES FORMER PYREX FACTORY OFFICE EQUIPMENT TO SUPPORT WORK IN DISADVANTAGED COMMUNITIES
St. Modwen, the UK’s leading regeneration specialist, has donated office furniture and equipment it has cleared from the former Pyrex factory in Sunderland, to a local charity that supports disadvantaged communities in the area.
The developer linked up at the end of last year with International Process Plants & Equipment Corp. (IPP) to acquire the 9.3 acre Pallion Road site, including the factory, for future redevelopment.
The equipment from the factory, which includes desks, filing cabinets, tables, chairs, crockery and a cooker, has been given to the East Durham Partnership Re-use Enterprise, a registered charity which operates a furniture re-use social enterprise providing second-hand equipment to other charities and small businesses and people in disadvantaged communities.
Nigel Cunis of St Modwen, says:
“We are always conscious of giving support to communities where we are engaged in undertaking regeneration and new development projects. Therefore, we are delighted to be able to give the Partnership a boost by donating to them office furniture from the former ARC International glassworks.”
John McNay of East Durham Partnership, adds:
“Our furniture Re-use Enterprise has been operational for three years. During this period we have assisted 15,150 beneficiaries and collected 45,950 re-useable items.
Supplies for local voluntary organisations and hospices as well as schools and small businesses are constantly in demand and we seek to fulfil this demand through public and private sector donations.”
