ST. MODWEN GETS THE GO AHEAD FOR MAJOR NEW MIXED-USE DEVELOPMENT TO THE WEST OF UTTOXETER

St. Modwen, the UK’s leading regeneration specialist, has been given the go-ahead to progress with its plans to create a new high quality, mixed use, residential-led development to the west of Uttoxeter town centre.

The developer was granted planning permission on Monday for a development of 700 new homes on land between the A50 and Bramshall Road, which will also incorporate 10 hectares of employment space, and a new first school, as well as sports and recreational facilities, a small local retail centre and open green space.

The community-focused development will bring much needed new homes to the town, as well as generate significant opportunities for local employment.

Mike Timmins, senior planning surveyor at St. Modwen, said: “We’re really pleased to have been granted planning permission to move forward with this significant development in Uttoxeter. The project will help address the need for housing in the local area, as well as create opportunities for businesses.

“We were particularly delighted with the Council’s comments on the effectiveness and comprehensive nature of the public consultation on our proposals, that were undertaken last year. This has enabled us to make changes to the scheme that will further benefit the existing local community and those looking to move to the area.

“Our aim is to continue to work alongside the Borough and County Councils, the Town and Rural Parish Councils and community groups to ensure the successful delivery of the project. The site is in a location that is ideal for this type of mixed use development, due to its proximity to local shops, community amenities and the transport network.

We will now be preparing detailed plans and a programme of surveys and works with a view to starting initial site works as soon as possible
