Pupils at The River School in Worcester have received a generous donation of building materials to use during their arts and crafts lessons from local award-winning housebuilder, St. Modwen Homes.

The donation was part of an ongoing community project created by the construction team at St. Modwen Homes’ Gregorys Bank development, located on St. Georges Lane North, in partnership with the local school.

Colin Hepburn, Assistant Site Manager at St. Modwen Homes, said: “We’re always keen to get involved with the local community, especially the local school as many of our homeowners have children who are pupils there. It’s been wonderful to maintain such a close relationship with The River School, and since our first donation of waste timber was used by the school children to make bird boxes, we’ve always been eager to make a bigger contribution.

“As well as creating beautiful new family homes for new homeowners it’s also important for St. Modwen Homes to give back to the local community and get involved with local organisations like the schools, theatre groups and festivals in Worcester.”

The donation comprised of £5,000 worth of kitchen units, flooring, windows and guttering material.

Carol Parry, Headteacher at The River School, said: “We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to St. Modwen Homes for its kind and generous donations over the years. Forging and maintaining relationships within our local community is equally important to us and we’ve been exceptionally lucky that St. Modwen Homes’ Gregorys Bank development looks to attract many more wonderful families to Worcester.”

The River School, a Christian co-educational independent day school, is attended by children aged between three to 16 years. Founded and opened by Timothy Crow in 1985, the school occupies a large Georgian grade II listed building with outbuildings, set in eight acres of Victorian arboretum, encompassing both woodland and open grass and is situated along The Droitwich Road in Worcester.

St. Modwen Homes has supported and worked with many local community groups and events across its development of sites over the years, more recently including The Kays Theatre Group in Worcester and sponsoring the Worcester Canal Festival.

St. Modwen Homes’ Gregorys Bank development is located just a five minute drive away from Worcester’s historic city centre as well as 10 minutes from The River School and has proved popular amongst families and young couples looking to move into the area. There are currently a selection of detached and semi-detached three and four bedroom homes for sale at Gregorys Bank, starting in price from £232,995.
