ST. MODWEN HOMES CALLS ON LOCAL PEOPLE TO NAME VICTORIA GROUND SITE
Readers of The Sentinel are being asked to name the new housing development that will be built on Victoria Ground in Stoke-on-Trent.
Located next to the A500, plans for the new development – which will be located on the former home of Stoke FC – include 200 homes, a park and a school sports field. It is hoped that planning permission will be granted later this year, with construction to follow in 2018.
The proposed first phase of the 16 acre development will comprise 130 homes aimed at people on all stages of the property ladder. The new development will follow the success of St. Modwen Homes’ Trentham Manor site which is located off Sir Stanley Matthews Way.
Dave Smith, Managing Director at St. Modwen Homes, said: “Having now submitted the planning application for our proposed housing development at Victoria Ground, the next step is to come up with a name for the site.
“We know that local residents feel very strongly about Victoria Ground and we’re sure that lots of people in Stoke have their own opinions on what the new name should be. By joining forces with The Sentinel, we want to give local people the chance to share their suggestions and be part of the next chapter of Victoria Ground.
“
Names could include a reference to the history of Stoke FC, relate to local wildlife or the location of the development; basically anything that people think is suitable and where people would be proud to live. We’re sure that choosing the winning name is going to be a very tough decision.”
The winning name for the new development will be chosen by the marketing team at St. Modwen Homes. All name suggestions need to be emailed to victoriaground@core-marketing.co.uk. The deadline to submit a proposed name is Friday 23rd June. The winner will be announced in The Sentinel at the beginning of July.
