St. Modwen Homes, the housebuilder behind the new Woodlands Reach development in Ravenstone near Coalville, received the top accolade at a national award ceremony last week, winning Best Small Housebuilder in the UK.

The developer also won Best House Design for Three Storeys or Fewer at the Housebuilder Awards; an annual event that celebrates the very best in UK housebuilding. The awards are held by the HBF (Home Builders Federation), in partnership with the NHBC (National Home-Building Council).

The judges commented that St. Modwen Homes demonstrated a commitment to innovation, improvement and excellence and had an imaginative approach to housebuilding, which in turn has, and will, benefit customers, employees, clients and suppliers.

Guy Gusterson, managing director at St. Modwen Homes, said: “We are delighted to have been named Best Small Housebuilder at the recent Housebuilder Awards.

“To have won this award despite the fact that St. Modwen Homes was formed just over two years ago, demonstrates how much the company has achieved in such a short space of time. We now have five active developments across the UK, including Woodlands Reach, and have sold out at a further two sites in the last few months alone. This recognition is testament to the hard work and dedication of the St. Modwen Homes team and our commitment to delivering award-winning homes across the country.”

St. Modwen Homes received the awards for its carefully considered approach to housebuilding, designing each individual house with unique features so that the properties take full advantage of the developments’ surroundings. The judges were impressed by the light and airy feel of the houses, emphasised by floor to ceiling windows, glazing around the front doors and vaulted ceilings in some of the properties. At Woodlands Reach, there are currently eight house types available – with additional variations in external elevations – ranging from two bedroom semi-detached houses to four bedroom detached properties.

St. Modwen Homes claimed the award over competition from other long-established developers including Taylor Wimpey, Redrow and Crest Nicholson.

Guy said: “We take great pride in the design of our houses and are delighted that this has been recognised by one of the industry’s leading organisations. Working closely with our architects, we have put in a lot of effort to make sure that our properties boast practical, intelligent and attractive designs, ensuring that they really stand out against others in the marketplace, particularly for the price.”

When complete, Woodlands Reach will consist of 190 properties situated off the tree-lined Ravenstone Road. Set within the National Forest, the new homes have been designed to an eco-friendly specification, with many of the properties boasting photovoltaic (PV) panels to help improve the energy efficiency of the house. Prices for the new homes start from just £140,000 for a two bedroom house and St. Modwen Homes has recently opened the doors to a brand new four bedroom show home.

St. Modwen Homes is the housebuilding brand of St. Modwen, the UK’s leading regeneration specialist which has more than 25 years’ experience in the property industry.

The marketing suite at Woodlands Reach is located off Ravenstone Road and is open Thursday to Monday from 10am to 6pm inclusive of the weekends.  For further information about the new homes call 0844 243 4888 or visit
