ST MODWEN HOMES SCOOPS ANOTHER NATIONAL AWARD
St. Modwen Homes – part of St. Modwen, the UK’s leading regeneration specialist – has received a National Site Award in recognition of the team’s communication and consideration to the local community at its Park View housing scheme in Longbridge, near Birmingham.
Organised by the Considerate Constructors Scheme, the National Site Awards are only given to the highest scoring 7.5 per cent of sites across the UK and aim to recognise exceptional standards of consideration towards local neighbourhoods and the general public, the workforce and the environment.
St. Modwen Homes received a bronze award for its Park View development, fending off competition from 8,500 other eligible sites in the country.
Guy Gusterson, managing director at St. Modwen Homes said: “To have received a National Site Award in the company’s first 18 months of existence is exceptional and I would like to personally congratulate the site team at Park View on this well-deserved achievement.
“A number of the team’s actions have been highlighted as reasons why the award was given, including the installation of ‘peep-holes’ into the hoarding, allowing residents to witness what changes are taking place. We also made sure that we communicated with the local community regularly, including nearby schools, informing them of what was happening onsite.
“As well as listening to local people, we asked for regular feedback from our construction team, who were particularly happy with the introduction of a catering service and bacon sandwiches for breakfast!”
Additionally, 95 per cent of all waste at Park View has been recycled, reused or retained on site.
Both phases of Park View have been built on the former general management office of the old MG Rover Factory. In recognition of this, the judges congratulated the site team for successfully encouraging ex-MG Rover employees to both work and live on the new housing development.
Guy said: “Many members of our construction team have ties to the previous MG Rover Factory, whether they themselves worked there or their family members did, and as such, the scheme is very close to their hearts. We are all dedicated to helping the existing and new community thrive at Longbridge and it is incredibly rewarding that this dedication has been recognised in a national accolade.”
Construction is currently underway on the second phase of housing at Park View and, following the success of the first phase, demand has already proven high with 30 per cent of the homes purchased from plan. When complete, the second phase of Park View will comprise 19 individually designed two and three bedroomed detached, semi-detached and terraced houses. Prices for the new properties start from just £155,950 for a two bedroom Cofton house.
The National Site Award rounds off a glittering first 18 months for the housebuilder which now has two national award wins to its name and has been named as a finalist in a further three accolades.
