ST. MODWEN INSTALLS NEW FOOTBRIDGE AT AUSTIN PARK IN LONGBRIDGE

St. Modwen, the UK’s leading regeneration specialist, has welcomed the opening of a new footbridge at its £2 million Austin Park development at Longbridge.

The 35 metre long bridge spans the River Rea and acts as the main pedestrian link between the newly created town centre, which is due to open later this year, Bournville College and future development phases. 

With its single support, the bridge aims to be a main focal point of the park, providing an unobtrusive passageway that blends seamlessly into its natural green surroundings. 

The footbridge is the latest addition to the park, which provides a new green space at the heart of St. Modwen’s £1 billion, 468 acre Longbridge regeneration project. It follows the planting of around 20,000 plants and 550 specially selected trees at the site earlier this year.

Mike Murray, senior development surveyor at St. Modwen said: “We’re really pleased to have completed the next stage of development of Austin Park. The addition of the footbridge brings a functional pedestrian link to the new town centre. It is also a modern and attractive centre-piece to the £2 million park, creating a contemporary pedestrian route through the scheme and linking existing areas with new ones.

“The bridge’s minimalist design is in keeping with our aim to create a high quality green space, with footpaths, dramatic views and public art reflecting the site’s automotive history.”
