ST. MODWEN LETS 65,000 SQ FT AT EDMONTON GREEN – MATALAN, STORE TWENTY ONE AND THE GYM GROUP SIGN

St. Modwen has completed 65,000 sq ft of lettings at Edmonton Green Shopping Centre, in a major boost to the 450,000 sq ft scheme’s fashion and fitness offer.

The UK’s leading regeneration specialist has completed a 27,000 sq ft letting to Matalan, which will stock adult and children’s fashion as well as homeware.

It will be joined by fashion and homeware retailer Store Twenty One in a 4,000 sq ft unit, whilst The Gym Group will take 34,000 sq ft at first and second floor as part of their expansion drive as the fastest-growing low-cost fitness chain within Greater London.

Matalan and The Gym Group have both taken 15 year leases. Store Twenty One has agreed a five year lease.

Matalan and The Gym Group’s units have been created from a reconfigured former foodstore at the centre – the latest development in the transformation of the north London centre, which has seen £100m investment under St. Modwen’s ownership.

The new occupiers will boost the centre’s fashion offer which already includes Peacocks, Blue Inc, JD and Sports Direct. Other occupiers include a range of independent fashion and general retailers, as well as national retail and restaurant operators, a Post Office and the town library.

Gary Morris, Senior Development Manager for the Northern Home Counties at St. Modwen said that the lettings indicated the strength of demand for new retail space at the scheme and its growing appeal for national brands:

“These new lettings demonstrate the strength of the centre following our investment programme, which has put Edmonton Green on the map as a retail and leisure destination.

“Through reconfiguring outdated space we’ve been able meet demand from these major brands, as they expand their portfolios in key locations.”

Lettings agents for the scheme are Green & Partners and GCW.
