St Modwen prepares for October Public Consultation on Everton regeneration

St Modwen Developments Ltd, which has been selected by Liverpool City Council as preferred developer for the Great Homer Street regeneration project, Everton, is preparing plans to put forward for full public consultation in October.

St Modwen has, since being selected in March, consulted on its original plans with a wide variety of stakeholders and community groups. There has been widespread support for the overall concept but some changes will be made to the layout and form of development in the light of comments received to date.

The October consultation will include a public exhibition where members of the public will be invited to complete a questionnaire and to give their comments.

Michelle Taylor, regional director of St Modwen, said: “Great Homer Street is in a very depressed area about a mile from the centre of Liverpool, where shops have closed, buildings are rundown and some businesses are struggling.

“It is in need of a major regeneration scheme to revitalise the whole area. Our development comprises a food store of more than 100,000 sq ft, additional new shops for local and national retailers, new houses and apartments, district centre offices, a new market building and community facilities campus.”

The public exhibition will pave the way for a formal planning application to be made for the development early in 2005.
