St. Modwen, the UK’s leading regeneration specialist, has been awarded planning permission from Sheffield City Council to develop a high quality, 120,000 sq ft trade park on Penistone Road, Sheffield.

St. Modwen has already pre-sold 75,000 sq ft of the space to a self storage company that will occupy a five storey unit, whilst the remaining 45,000 sq ft will comprise eight trade counter units ranging from between 5,000 sq ft up to 10,000 sq ft.

Starting with the self storage unit, works to the new development will start towards the end of the year after demolition works of the remaining factory buildings, formerly occupied by Osbourn Clarkson, a manufacturer of high quality precision tools, is completed.

Commenting on the news, Stephen Prosser, Yorkshire and North East regional director, St. Modwen says:

“We have worked closely with the Council to ensure that the right employment space replaces the Osbourn Clarkson buildings and are grateful for its support of our plans.

“With permission now granted, we are able to progress with development work; replacing what are much dilapidated factory buildings with a trade park that will both enhance the look and feel of the area whilst also encouraging new employment opportunities. At the same time, Osbourn Clarkson is now free to relocate to its new purpose build premises in nearby Chapeltown which immediately secures the future of the business, providing it with appropriate accommodation to assist its growth and expansion in the region.”
