St. Modwen, the UK’s leading regeneration specialist, has completed the sale of a further 1.1 acres of land at its Norton Park District Centre on Leek Road.

McDonald’s has purchased 0.8 acres of land, enabling them to develop a new restaurant and drive thru at the site, which is planned to open later this year. A further 0.3 acre plot has been sold to Aldi, which will allow the supermarket chain to add a 3,875 sq ft extension to its existing store at Norton Park.

This is the latest phase of development at Norton Park, which has already delivered 700 new homes with extensive public open space as well as the district centre.

Euan Lindsay, Senior Development Manager at St. Modwen, said: “The conclusion of these two deals at Norton Park District Centre are extremely good news, enhancing the local area and the centre’s offer, as well as bringing welcome new jobs. We now have in the order of three acres remaining for development at the site and look forward to bringing further occupiers to the district centre.”

A McDonald’s spokesperson said: “We are delighted to be opening a new restaurant at Norton Park and are looking forward to beginning work on it. The new restaurant will enable us to bring a number of new full and part time local jobs, as well as provide ongoing investment in the area.”

Richard Rae, of Rae and Co Surveyors who acted on behalf of Aldi, said: “The proposed extended store will offer customers an enhanced shopping experience and significantly add to local employment levels.”
