St Modwen sells another Hilton site for housing

St Modwen Developments Ltd has sold another 27.88 acres of the former Ministry of Defence Hilton Depot in Derbyshire for residential development.

Beazer Homes Midlands has acquired the site to build more than 300 homes to add to the 400 already built by McLean, Barratts, Crest, Fairclough and Hassell Homes.

St Modwen, in a joint venture with the Ministry of Defence, is developing the 280-acre site over a ten year period creating 1,100 new homes, 90 acres of new employment land, and leisure, education and community facilities.

Peter Robbins, St Modwen’s surveyor responsible for the scheme, said: “Just over 30 acres remain for future housing development. We are very pleased with the demand for homes that has built up in this area.”

Earlier this year St Modwen acquired land to unlock further major development of the site and create access to the dual-carriageway A50 M1/M6 link avoiding the centre of Hilton village.

DTZ Debenham Tie Leung acted for St Modwen in the multi-million pound sale to Beazer Homes.
