St Modwen sells former Brierley Crystal works site for £6.4 million
The ten-acre former Royal Brierley Crystal works site which is to be redeveloped for housing, has been sold by St Modwen Developments Ltd to Barratt West Midlands for £6.4 million.
About 180 homes are to be developed on the Moor Street site in Brierley Hill where St Modwen is completing an intensive phase of land reclamation. This has included the demolition of all the existing buildings apart from those having special historic interest, some of which are 135 years old, namely the manager’s house, the original offices and works and the famous chimney which are to be incorporated into the new development.
Ray Hill of St Modwen, said: “We have worked constructively with Dudley Council and English Heritage over a long period to create a development which will bring much needed quality housing whilst retaining the important historic features of this well-known industrial heritage site.”
St Modwen was represented by Paul Jackson of Oldbury.
