ST. MODWEN SIGNS AGREEMENT WITH LOCAL HOUSING ASSOCIATION TO MOVE INTO NEW FACILITY AT SKYPARK IN EXETER
Leading UK regeneration specialist, St. Modwen, is helping one of the region’s largest employers, DCH, move into a new 30,000 sq ft office space at its 1.4 million sq ft Skypark scheme in Exeter.
Ian Guy, Senior Development Manager for St. Modwen and Devon County Council’s development partner for the £210m Skypark development, said:
“We are starting on site with the first phase of offices at Skypark in the autumn of this year. After recent success with the new ASOC HQ and the logistics hub for Geopost, we’ve signed a forward sale agreement with DCH for them to purchase a 30,000 sq ft office unit at our Skypark site. The planning application for the building has been approved with a view to start work on the unit by the end of this year, subject to approval.
“There is currently a shortage of office space in the local market which is driving development at Skypark, as shown by these ‘State of the Art’ energy efficient offices which will be the first office buildings to be built.”
“Skypark’s accessibility is already proving appealing to occupiers. It is located only two miles east of Junction 29 of the M5 in the new Exeter and East Devon Growth Point Area. The area has extensive new road infrastructure in place, as well as new public transport access via the new bus services and train services into Exeter and East Devon. Over £3.5 mil of infrastructure has also been delivered onsite including three acres of Public Realm Space.
Russell Baldwinson Group Development Director at DCH said: “The granting of planning permission represents a significant milestone in the delivery of our new office building and we are very much looking forward to working with St. Modwen on the project.”
The new offices will join the Ambulance Special Operations Centre (ASOC West) and DPD UK’s new 60,000 sq ft distribution centre on site.
Being delivered over 20 years, Skypark represents one of the most important strategic developments sites in the SW of England and on completion the 110 acre site will provide 1.4 million sq ft of warehouse, industrial and office space and deliver up to 6,500 new jobs.
