ST. MODWEN SIGNS LEASE WITH DUDLEY COUNCIL ON 12 ACRES OF GREEN LAND IN COOMBS WOOD, HALESOWEN

St. Modwen, the UK’s leading regeneration specialist has signed an agreement with Dudley Council on the Green Wedge, 12 acres of land in the Coombs Wood area of Halesowen, as part of its commitment to promote access to and retention of green open spaces in the town.

The 50 year lease will enable the council to create a natural environment for residents and includes a substantial financial contribution to the area’s future maintenance.

St. Modwen has agreed to invest £60,000 to support the recruitment and ongoing employment of a warden to look after the area, ensuring that it is maintained and remains an attractive place for local residents to visit and enjoy.

Ian Romano, senior development surveyor at St. Modwen, said: “We have undertaken a number of projects in the Coombs Wood area of Halesowen that show our commitment to enhance amenities for local residents. This has included the creation of a new sports and social club securing the future of Coombs Wood Cricket Club. This latest initiative will make a huge difference to people living locally and will help to support access to open space and natural environments.

Councillor Judy Foster, cabinet member for regeneration at Dudley Council, added: “This land is an important green environment within the Coombs Wood area of Halesowen. The longer term retention of this space and the partnership with St. Modwen will help support our aim to deliver open green spaces for existing and future residents.”
