ST. MODWEN STARTS ON SITE WITH STOKE’S LARGEST NEW OFFICE BUILDINGÌ¢‰âÂå_an 80,000 sq ft Vodafone centre, Etruria Valley, Stoke on Trent

Construction work began today (October 23) on Stoke-on-Trent’s largest new office building – a £30 million new call centre for Vodafone UK – which Stoke-on-Trent Regeneration, the joint venture between St. Modwen and Stoke City Council, is developing on its high-profile Etruria Valley Business Park.

Senior executives of Vodafone joined Stoke-on-Trent Regeneration representatives for the start-on-site launch of the 80,000 sq ft, 850-seat call centre which, when completed in a year’s time, should secure jobs for about 1,100 people in the area.

The innovatively-designed building will be the largest single office development that St. Modwen, the UK’s leading regeneration specialist, has undertaken in North Staffordshire and is thought to be the largest of its kind ever in the Stoke area.

In commissioning the building, Vodafone UK will be bringing together the four sites the company currently occupies in Stoke under one roof.

Mike Herbert, St. Modwen’s North Staffordshire regional director, described the recent decision to grant planning consent for the building as a “massive shot-in-the-arm” for the continuing regeneration of the area in the face of difficult global economic conditions.

“We have worked very closely with Vodafone for a long time to bring this impressive project to fruition and the building will become an admired and striking landmark,” he added.

“This is a major new landmark contact centre building in Stoke and will play an important and ongoing part in the city’s regeneration” added Rob Lewin, Vodafone UK’s Head of Property. “One of our main aims is to build a customer care centre our team are proud to work in.”
