ST. MODWEN SUBMITS PLANNING APPLICATION TO COMPLETE REGENERATION OF WHEATLEY HALL ROAD SITE

St. Modwen has submitted a planning application to develop a new 10,000 sq ft Farmfoods store at Crompton Retail Park on Wheatley Hall Road in Doncaster. If approved, the new store is expected to create up to 20 new full and part-time local jobs.

The proposed new store would complete the successful regeneration of the 13 acre site, formerly occupied by Tyco Electronics. The redevelopment of this prominent site has secured the presence of Eaton (formerly Cooper Safety and Lighting) and delivered new retail and leisure facilities to the local area, including a new 40,000 sq ft Dunelm Store, a family-friendly Marston’s public house and a new Goals Soccer Centre, creating around 120 local jobs.

Only recently, St. Modwen submitted a planning application to develop 250,000 sq ft of warehouse and commercial space at the nearby Parkside Business Park in Doncaster. Both applications reinforce St. Modwen’s commitment to bringing important investment and jobs to the Doncaster area.

Richard Bannister, Yorkshire and North East Regional Manager for St. Modwen, said: “We

have successfully attracted a number of big national brands to Crompton Retail Park, which is a sign of growing confidence in the region. The redevelopment of this site has had a positive impact on the town; creating local jobs, delivering significant investment and bringing new retail and leisure facilities. We look forward to making further announcements about the remaining space at Crompton Retail Park in the coming weeks.”
