St. Modwen supports mission to end youth homelessness with LandAid corporate partnership

Following a longstanding relationship between St. Modwen and LandAid, the property industry charity on a mission to end youth homelessness, St. Modwen has become an official corporate partner of the charity. The partnership includes a pledge from St. Modwen to donate £30,000 to LandAid over the next year. Funds raised will go towards the St Basils Live and Work project which aims to provide apprenticeship opportunities and living accommodation to young people facing homelessness.

On a recent visit to the Live and Work Village, Sarwjit Sambhi, St. Modwen CEO, and Becky Cund, Head of HR Operations and Sustainable People Projects, met with Jean Templeton, CEO of St. Basils, and Michael Regan, Head of Partnerships for LandAid, for a tour of the facilities to see first-hand the positive outcomes of the project, as well as offering key insights into its future plans. Since the first scheme in 2015, St Basils has supported over 120 individuals across 600 units over 40 schemes. None of them have faced homelessness again.

It’s a privilege to be furthering our support for St Basils through our corporate partnership with LandAid. Seeing the vital support the Live and Work project is offering to young people in the area through employment opportunities and living accommodation has been extremely rewarding. We look forward to supporting the next phase of the project over the coming months.”

St Basil’s next phase, the Youth Village, will deliver 54 1-bedroom apartments for individuals aged between 16-25.

One of the key fundraising opportunities St. Modwen will be undertaking is its annual charity run, dubbed ‘the hardest 10K in the Midlands’. Since its launch in 2017, over 400 runners from the wider Birmingham community and beyond have pounded the pavements of Longbridge and Cofton Park, collectively raising over £50,000 for LandAid.

This year’s run will take place on 6 October in Longbridge, Birmingham. More details to follow.
