St Modwen to improve Solihull Ice Rink complex
St Modwen Developments Ltd, which has been selected by Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council as preferred developer of Solihull Ice Rink, Hobs Moat, has submitted a planning application to refurbish the complex, develop two restaurants and extend the building to include community facilities which are at present in separate assembly rooms.
The ice rink itself will be enhanced by a thorough programme of refurbishment. The Suzy Q Snooker Club will remain on the first floor. It is intended that the entire complex will be managed by St Modwen Developments which will be taking on responsibility for the current management and staff.
The assembly rooms, in Ulleries Road, will remain in use until the new facilities are completed, and it is then proposed to replace the assembly rooms with about 30 two-bedroom flats.
St Modwen plan to commence the redevelopment work in June and have it completed for mid-September.
