Statement for the Express & Star on the Hungry Horse pub restaurant on the site of the former Goodyear works

Greene King Project Manager Richard Parsons said: “Greene King and St. Modwen are progressing the scheme to schedule. A new road is being installed and the pub restaurant building is more than half complete and is on target to open for trade in November.”

The new ‘Hungry Horse’ family-led pub restaurant will serve the local community. The one acre site will also include 80 car parking spaces, outdoor seating, a children’s play area, plus extensive new landscaping.

The development will create 40 new jobs within the area. The plans are part of the continued £150 million redevelopment of the former Goodyear works, which includes a recently-opened Aldi store and the construction of 314 new homes in a joint venture between St. Modwen and housebuilder Persimmon plc.
