STOKE LEGENDS TO OPEN DOORS TO VICTORIA PARK THIS WEEKEND

This weekend (Saturday 7th April) marks the opening of the first show homes at Victoria Park; the new housing development that has transformed the former Victoria Ground site which was the home of Stoke City Football Club for over a Century.

The new homes will be officially opened by former Stoke City football players including Eric Skeels, Denis Smith, Carl Beeston, Phil Heath and George Berry, alongside Cllr Conteh, Ward Councillor for Penkhull and Stoke, and Dave Smith, Managing Director of St. Modwen Homes, the housebuilder behind the regeneration of the site.

To mark the occasion, the former football players will be on hand to speak to fans and answer any questions about the history of the Victoria Ground between 10am and 12pm. Visitors will also have the chance to win a tour of Britannia Stadium (the current home of Stoke FC) for up to five people and an Emma Bridgewater retro mini radio by entering St. Modwen Homes’ Spot the Ball competition.

Dave Smith, Managing Director of St. Modwen Homes, said: “We’re privileged to have former Stoke City players attend our launch of Victoria Park this weekend, allowing us to celebrate the past, present and future importance of this development.
“Combined, the 11 players attending on Saturday made an impressive 2,088 appearances at Victoria Ground, all contributing to the legacy of Stoke Football Club. This site holds many memories for local people and to celebrate this, we’ll be working with the former players to launch a campaign at the weekend asking for people to share these memories with us.
“Thanks to the homes at Victoria Park, the former Victoria Ground is receiving a new lease of life and we can’t wait to see people moving into the houses, creating memories and maybe even seeing some football players of the future learn new skills on the school playing fields and park that will be delivered alongside the 200 homes.”

Unveiled to the public for the first time, the two new show homes will be a two bedroom Alban home and a three bedroom Lawrence home; both of which will showcase the specification and build quality new homeowners can expect from St. Modwen Homes, as well as interior designs inspired by the local area.

Prices for the new homes at Victoria Park start from £149,995 for a two bedroom home and all the properties are available under the government’s Help to Buy scheme whereby homeowners can secure their new property with a 5% deposit and a 75% mortgage (with the remaining 20% covered by an equity loan from the government).

Last week, St. Modwen Homes was rated a 5* housebuilder by the House Builders Federation (HBF) for the second year running. The highest accolade to be given by the industry body, the 5* rating recognises St. Modwen Homes’ commitment to delivering a high quality product and having a high level of customer satisfaction with over 90% of purchasers happy to recommend the housebuilder to a friend.
