STORAGE FIRMS OCCUPY SOUTH OCKENDON SITE AS ST MODWEN PREPARES  FUTURE MASTERPLAN

St Modwen Properties  is making good short term use of the 30-acre South Ockendon, Thurrock, site it purchased from Ford in summer 2005 whilst it progresses its long term future through the masterplanning and strategic planning processes.

The Hill Company, which is now renting 100,000 sq ft of existing space for document storage on a three-year lease, is planning to expand on the site in the future by taking a bespoke building. Mobile Mini, a container storage firm, has taken a five-year lease on four acres of hardstanding while Transrent, which stores trailer containers, is renting two acres of hardstanding for three years.

Robin Vaughan of St Modwen, said: “We are in the process of masterplanning the site for employment  and residential uses but as this is not a rapid process we are, in the meantime,  making the existing

space work.”
