TELFORD DEVELOPMENT HAS POTENTIAL TO PROVIDE OVER 300 JOBS

Fourteen new industrial/warehousing buildings are to be built on St Modwen¹s 20-acre Queensway Business Park in Telford, following the refurbishment and sub-division of the former Mitutoya building into an office unit and four industrial units. Together these will give the potential for providing employment for more than 300 people.

Construction begins next month (Aug) on the 78,351 sq ft new build development by Redman Heenan Properties, an investment subsidiary of St Modwen Properties PLC, for which planning consent has just been granted.

The new buildings, ranging between 3,000 sq ft and 10,600 sq ft, will be ready for occupation next March. St Modwen is already in advanced negotiations with an international company, with a base in the region, to take the largest unit.

Jonathan Green, development surveyor at St Modwen, said: ³We are offering a variety of sizes of units that will appeal to the Telford local market as well as larger companies seeking a Telford base. Occupiers will have the choice of buying or renting. The business park is surrounded by a green network of land that enhances the working environment for the many people who will be employed on the site.²

Work has just been completed on Phase 1 which comprised the division of a 54,000 sq ft former warehouse with offices St Modwen acquired from Mitutoya. The offices have been sold and four business units of between 10,000 sq ft and 11,500 sq ft have been created.

There is interest in three out of the four units which are also available for sale or to let.
