THUMBS UP FOR SITE SAFETY AT BRANSTON LEAS

St. Modwen Homes, the award-winning housebuilder behind the new homes at Branston Leas in Burton-upon-Trent, highlighted the dangers of live construction sites to the pupils of Anglesey Primary Academy with two assemblies.

Led by St. Modwen Homes’ Site Manager at Branston Leas, Dean Parker, alongside the Considerate Constructors mascot ‘Ivor Goodsite’ each assembly aimed to promote key safety messages, covering the various hazards that can be found and site and ensuring that pupils are not tempted to play on or near building sites.

Aged between seven and eleven, the KS2 pupils were asked to identify the large machinery and other potential dangers, such as scaffolding and deep holes, and also got an introduction to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Back in the classroom, pupils were invited to take part in a poster competition, highlighting the various safety messages covered in the assembly. Winners, as judged by St. Modwen Homes, will be displayed on the hoardings around Branston Leas, to promote site safety to residents and passers-by.

Mr Stockwell, Deputy Headteacher at Anglesey Primary Academy, said: “It was a great exercise for us to have St. Modwen Homes come in and talk to the kids about how to stay safe on site, particularly given the level of construction in the local area. By the end of the assembly, the KS2 pupils were able to recognise a number of hazards on site, as well as various the safety signs.”

Dean Parker, Site Manager at Branston Leas, said: “A building site might seem like a great place to explore but in reality they can be extremely dangerous, especially for children looking for somewhere to play. This is why it is so important for St. Modwen Homes to work with local schools and raise awareness of the hazards to keep pupils safe.”

A range of three and four bedroom freehold properties are currently available to purchase at Branston Leas, with prices starting at just £232,995 for a three bedroom detached Webster home.
