St. Modwen, the UK’s leading regeneration specialist and owner of The Meads, Farnborough’s shopping centre, will play host to some of the town’s top local school bands as part of its series of Christmas concerts.
The concerts, which form part of the Christmas celebrations at The Meads, will start on 3 December with a performance by Wavell School’s Samba band. This is followed by the school’s choir singing a selection of Christmas favourites on 10 December and, two days later, music students from Farnborough College of Technology will take to the stage to perform popular Christmas covers.
The lunchtime concerts, which will take place on a purpose built stage in the Kingsmead shopping centre, are set to be the highlight of Farnborough town centre’s Christmas celebrations.
Andy Wynn, Centre Manager at The Meads, said: “We are thrilled to be collaborating with Wavell School and Farnborough College to bring a little Christmas cheer to the local community. The performances will span the entire music spectrum: from classic Christmas carols to Brazilian Samba and popular festive hits. There will be something for everyone.”
Tamsin Pennington, Head of Music at Wavell School, said: “We’re looking forward to performing at The Meads. Community collaboration is incredibly important to the school. It is a fantastic experience for the students who all love performing and get great pleasure from the music rehearsals and events they take part in. Please come and support the students with a big audience.”
