Vodafone UK  has agreed terms for an 80,000 sq ft state-of-the-art 850-seat contact centre at Etruria Valley, the  high profile business park being developed in the heart of Stoke-on-Trent  by Stoke-on-Trent Regeneration, the joint venture between St Modwen and  Stoke City Council.

The development will bring together the four sites in Stoke that Vodafone UK currently occupies under one roof.

More than 1,200 people will be employed in the innovatively-designed building which it is expected Vodafone  will occupy during  summer 2009. A planning application has been lodged and  subject to a successful outcome,it is anticipated that construction will begin next Spring.

The building will be the first development on  Etruria Valley phase 2, continuing the massive regeneration programme in North Staffordshire that St Modwen began 20 years ago. Etruria Valley is the third phase of the highly successful Festival Park development which St Modwen started in 1987 as the redevelopment of the 160-acre 1986 National Garden Festival site. The development has been expanded in phases with 220 acres  of the development now completed and a further 90 acres in the latest phase.

Mike Herbert,  St Modwen¹s North Staffordshire regional director, said:

³This development will be the largest single office development that the company has undertaken in North Staffordshire and probably the largest of its kind ever in the Stoke area.

He added: ³It represents a major statement of commitment from Vodafone UK to the North Staffordshire economy. We have worked  closely with Vodafone UK to develop an innovative, strikingly  designed building to provide facilities of the highest quality for their staff.²

Mike Newens, Vodafone¹s  global property director,  said: ³Vodafone is committed to the region, its people and their skills and by creating a centre of excellence in Stoke we believe we can continue to deliver award-winning customer care. We have undertaken a thorough review within Stoke of possible locations for our new contact centre. Etruria Valley offers the best solution.

³It is an established and growing development and is centrally located within Stoke. We are hopeful we will be able to contribute to the redevelopment of the Stoke-on-Trent area through this proposed investment.²

DTZ represeted Vodafone. Louis Taylor is letting agent for Stoke-on-Trent Regeneration.
