Vodaphone buys Festival Park plot for data centre

A 1.56 acre plot on Etruria Valley, the latest development phase of Festival Park, Stoke-on-Trent, being developed in association with Corus, has been sold by Stoke-on-Trent Regeneration Ltd, the joint venture vehicle formed by St Modwen Properties PLC and Stoke City Council, to Vodafone.

The new data centre to be built on the site at the southern end of the 27.5 acre canalside scheme makes use of a high capacity fibre optic cable running alongside the canal. A new access road from Forge Lane will be constructed.

Alastair Smith of St Modwen, said: “We have always considered this site to be very suitable for high-tech uses such as data and call centres. It is particularly encouraging that the first step in this direction has been made by Vodafone, one of the world’s strongest businesses in the communications sector.”

Insignia Richard Ellis advised Vodafone and are selling agents for Etruria Valley with local agent Daniel & Hulme.
