WAVE OF NEW RETAILERS SIGN UP AT ST. MODWEN’S NORTH WALES DEVELOPMENT

St. Modwen – the UK’s leading regeneration specialist – has announced a series of new retail tenants at its £15m development in Connah’s Quay, Flintshire, North Wales.

Deals have been secured with five new retailers at the six-acre district centre including: Greggs, Bargain Booze, Just Go Travel, Corbett bookmakers and Barnardos.

The development, known as Quay Shopping Centre, will create around 300 new retail jobs and is anchored by a 52,000 sq ft Morrisons food store. It includes an additional twelve retail units, 325 car parking spaces, improved pedestrian public transport links.

The latest tenants will join retailers already signed up for the Ffordd Llanarth development, which include Connah’s Quay MOT Testing Centre, Deeside Fish and Chip Shop and national homeware retailer Home Bargains.

Paul Batho, project director at St. Modwen, said: “We are piecing together a varied shopping destination which will serve the local community with a range of services. The take up of the retail units, particularly from national high street brands, demonstrates a new found confidence in the area as a retail centre.”

Demolition of the original 1970s-style centre started in June 2009 and was completed in August 2009. Construction of the new district centre is expected to be completed in early September before being handed over to the retailers to start work on the internal fit-out of the units.

Cheetham and Mortimer are the letting agents acting for Connah’s Quay.
