Construction work at Venture Fields, the £10m leisure scheme developed jointly by St. Modwen and Halton Borough Council, is beginning to take shape with the emergence of the steel works on site for the cinema and bowling units.
Venture Fields Leisure Park will create a new focus for family-orientated entertainment in the borough.
The scheme is already over 95% pre-let and anchor tenants will include a five-screen cinema operated by Reel Cinemas, a bowling alley operating as Widnes Superbowl and a 36,000 sq ft Ice Rink operated by Planet Ice.
The site set to welcome its first visitors in the autumn of 2011. It will also include a Frankie and Benny’s Restaurant and a 60-bedroom hotel with an adjoining 7,500 sq ft restaurant. Further details will be announced shortly.
Richard Bakes, development manager, St. Modwen said: “Venture Fields is the product of ten years hard work with our partners at Halton Borough Council and being able to see its impact on the Waterfront starting to take shape is a significant milestone for the scheme.”
Cllr Rob Polhill, Leader of Halton Borough Council, commented: “It is fantastic to see that work on this major scheme is progressing so well despite the recent bad weather. When completed the development will be a huge boost for the whole borough. I for one can’t wait for the opening!”
The final Restaurant unit is currently under offer and an announcement with regards to the operator will be made in due course.
