Meet our Changemakers: Hannah Chitanah

Hi, I’m Hannah Chitanah, I’m an IT Apprentice at St. Modwen and I’m based at our Head Office in Longbridge, Birmingham. My role involves helping to fix IT problems whenever they arise and supporting colleagues where possible.

What were you doing before you joined St. Modwen?

Before I joined St. Modwen I was studying at Sutton College doing a level 4 in Cloud Computing but I just felt like it wasn’t for me and I needed more conversations with people and so when I saw the role at St. Modwen, I applied and ran with it and the rest is history.

What was it that attracted you to the role?

What attracted me to apply for the role at St. Modwen was that at the end of the day there would be customer satisfaction and I would get to see and have regular communication with people that I work with rather than just fixing their computer. I would also fix their computer and see them and walk them through the process as well.

What was the application process like?

The application process was I had a meeting on Google Meets, after that I was invited to an assessment centre, where they gave us different scenarios I was given an interview and then after the interview, I was offered the role. From the assessment centre I took away how to deal with different customers and how to give excellent customer satisfaction.

How have you found your experience to be so far?

So far I found working at St. Modwen absolutely amazing. everyone at St. Modwen is really easy to talk to you. Everyone is very lovely very bubbly and very very accessible.

What would you tell someone else considering an early careers programme?

The advice I would give to a new starter, is as it was my first role here It was daunting as I thought it was going to be. They understood that it was my first role here so I think overall St. Modwen is a very lovely company and a very very lovely place to work.

The best thing about it an apprenticeship is you get hands-on learning, hands-on experience and you earn a qualification alongside and you earn a little bit of money as well.
