St. Modwen charity run raises record £38,000 to tackle youth homelessness

  • 300 runners from the property and construction industry raced the iconic Longbridge course
  • Funds raised for LandAid will support St. Basils Live and Work project in Birmingham

The annual West Midlands charity race organised by St. Modwen, the owner of leading logistics development and housebuilding businesses, has seen 300 runners raise a record £38,000 to support a life-changing project to tackle youth homelessness in Birmingham.

Competitors ran either 5k or 10k from the centre of Longbridge to the hilly Cofton Park, with participants from over 25 businesses from the property and construction sector taking part. The highly fought race saw the fastest individual complete the 10k race in less than 35 minutes.

In its fourth year, all funds have been donated to LandAid, the property industry charity on a mission to end youth homelessness. The money will directly help St. Basils in Birmingham provide accommodation for young people who have been homeless as they journey towards independence. As well as providing housing, St. Basils incorporates education and employment programmes to help young people achieve a much brighter future.

I’m absolutely thrilled that we’ve smashed our past fundraising efforts which allows us to provide much-needed funding to LandAid’s flagship cause in the Midlands. Having visited St. Basils, I have seen with my own eyes how the money is used and the positive outcomes it creates for young people. We look forward to seeing how this latest support will help St Basils and continuing to back this important project.”

Sarwjit Sambhi, CEO at St. Modwen

We are hugely grateful to all of the runners who took part in the run this year, and especially to the team at St. Modwen for staging the race in support of our mission to end youth homelessness. Funds raised by the runners will help to provide more safe, secure and affordable homes for young people who need them the most in the Midlands, through the fantastic work of St. Basils.”

Paul Morrish, Chief Executive at LandAid
