A Midlands charity run dubbed ‘property’s toughest 10k’ is returning for its third year to raise money to help end youth homelessness in the region.
The 10k and 5k races will take place on Friday 13th September in Longbridge, home of property developer St. Modwen, which has organised the run to raise vital funds for LandAid, the property industry’s charity.
The St. Modwen Charity Run calls on runners from across the property sector to compete on rolling hills and rough terrain, with a 5k option also available for those looking for a shorter challenge.
Since its launch in 2017, over 400 runners have pounded the pavements of Longbridge and Cofton Park to raise over £50,000 for LandAid. Money raised has funded the renovation of homes to provide safe, warm accommodation for young people at risk of homelessness in the Midlands through LandAid’s partnership with Birmingham-based charity, St. Basil’s.
Rupert Wood, Property Director and Chair of St. Modwen’s CSR Committee, said:
“We’re proud to be bringing back this run for its third year. It has grown significantly since its launch in 2017 and we’re looking forward to welcoming even more runners to Longbridge to take part this year.
“LandAid shares St. Modwen’s drive to make a positive impact in our communities and we’re delighted that we’ve been able to make a tangible change to the lives of young people locally who have been affected by homelessness. We’re hoping that this year we can boost our fundraising even further by encouraging other organisations to run, donate or get involved through sponsorship.”
Paul Morrish, CEO of LandAid, said:
“We are delighted and grateful that St Modwen is raising funds for LandAid at their Charity Run this year. Every single penny of the money raised will be helping to provide safe, secure and affordable homes for vulnerable young people who are homeless and in need of help. We can’t overstate our gratitude to the fantastic runners who will no doubt make this year’s run a success once again.”
