ST. MODWEN HOMES STORMS TO SIXTH PLACE AT MUMBLES RAFT RACE

St. Modwen Homes’ Grey Panther raft proved it was safe as houses at the charity Mumbles Raft Race, storming its seven-strong crew across the finish line in an impressive sixth place.

Raft builder and crew captain Gordon Woosnam, a telehandler driver  at the housebuilder’s Hendrefoilan Park development in Sketty, said it was a great afternoon.

“We started at the back of the race and managed to finish in sixth place out of 35 rafts – so the Grey Panther served us well. We really enjoyed ourselves and raised over £350 for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution ( RNLI) and the vital work it does saving lives at sea.”

The vessel boasted a wooden house shape complete with roof, chimney and St. Modwen Homes flag, and was supported by six 125 litre barrels that cut through the high seas.
Accompanying Gordon onboard were Hendrefoilan Park assistant site manager Joe Davies, trainee site manager Callum Roberts, gateman Richard Morgan, construction manager Ian Pickering and trainee technical managers Daniel and Jamie Pickering.

For the first time in 30 years, the race followed a new three mile ‘out and back’  course from Knab Rock around a halfway marker and back to the slipway near to Verdi’s.

A range of three and four bedroom homes are available at Hendrefoilan Park with prices starting from just £190,000.

Homebuyers can visit the on-site marketing suite, off Gower Road, which is open between 10am and 5.30pm Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and 12pm until 7.30pm on Thursday. Appointments can be made by calling 0844 243 4540.
